High Temperature Resistant Centrifugal Pump Installer
Classification of centrifugal pumps

2021/09/13

There are many classifications of centrifugal pumps, which are divided according to different structural characteristics. The specific classification of centrifugal pumps is as follows:

Classify according to the number of working impellers.

1. Single-stage pump: that is, there is only one impeller on the pump shaft.

2. Multi-stage pump: that is, there are two or more impellers on the pump shaft, and the total head of the pump is the sum of the heads produced by n impellers.

classify according to work pressure.

1. Low-pressure pump: the pressure is less than 100 meters water column.

2. Medium pressure pump: the pressure is between 100m and 650m water column.

3. High-pressure pump: the pressure is higher than 650m water column.

It is classified according to the water intake mode of the impeller.

1. Unilateral intake pump: also known as single suction pump, that is, there is only one inlet on the impeller.

2. Bilateral intake pump: also known as double suction pump, that is, there is a water inlet on both sides of the impeller. Its flow rate is twice as large as that of a single-suction pump, which can be approximately regarded as two single-suction pump impellers placed back-to-back together.

classify according to the joint joint form of the pump shell.

1. Horizontal open pump: that is, there is a joint seam on the horizontal plane passing through the axis line.

2. Vertical joint surface pump: that is, the joint surface is perpendicular to the axis line.

Classify according to the position of the pump shaft.

1. Horizontal pump: the pump shaft is located in the horizontal position.

2. Vertical pump: the pump shaft is in the vertical position.

Classification according to the way the water from the impeller is directed to the extruding chamber.

1. Volute pump: after water comes out of the impeller, it goes directly into the pump shell with a helix shape.

2. Guide vane pump: after water comes out of the impeller, it enters the guide vane set outside it,and then enters the next stage or flows into the outlet pipe.
